It's been a long time between drinks...about 18 months actually. World's longest lockdown coupled with having a baby has meant this collection has taken a really long time be brought to life. But I think it was worth the wait, because this one is really something special.
Titled 'Optique' meaning perspective, my concept for this collection was to juxtapose geometric shapes in ways that lure the eye and give a sense of elegant playfulness. I also came across the most beautiful typeface on the planet, and just knew I needed to use it, and dare I say looks INCREDIBLE in letterpress.
With each new collection I try to showcase a colour palette that hasn't been done before, and with Optique I knew it needed to have the right balance of boldness with soft neutrals. I think the world is craving a bit of fun with special events right now, and colour is such a great way of injecting that. The palette is divinely earthy, in tones of soft Ivory, Mist, Stone and Terracotta, contrasted by luscious Plum, a new addition to our range of 30 coloured papers. The print result is beyond my expectations, and needs to be seen and felt in real life (hint: sample pack!).
I really wanted to showcase this new collection with an editorial shoot that was something special, challenging the norms of how a wedding should be styled. My inspiration was vintage glamour, a long lunch with friends, Negroni's, afternoon sunlight pouring through the window. After three lockdown related postponements, finally I was able to bring together an amazing team of creatives to create this beautiful scene.
So, here is Optique. I hope you love it as much as I do, and can resonate with my vision. The collection includes everything from save the dates to invite suites, digital stationery, signage, menus, place cards and more. We even custom designed a new pocket and a placemat which we've never done before. Oh and of course, everything is 100% recyclable and plastic free.
